BNP Standing Committee member Major (Retd) Hafiz Uddin Ahmed has said the July Charter is not necessary, instead the country needs a parliament capable of implementing democracy.
He made the remarks on Saturday while speaking at a discussion organised by the Muktijoddha Dal at the National Press Club in Dhaka.
Accusing the interim government of trying to erase the legacy of the Liberation War, Hafiz said this government never speaks about the Liberation War. No other movement can be compared to this struggle, this nation was born through the Liberation War.
He further alleged that a religion-based political party is plotting ahead of the polls out of greed for power.
“If anyone conspires against the spirit of the Liberation War, they will be resisted,” warned the senior BNP leader.
