Nine years after its release, popular singers Imran Mahmudul and Sabrina Porshi’s duet Jonam Jonam has reached a major milestone, crossing 100 million views on YouTube.
Released in 2017, the song was the first duet by Imran and Porshi. Although the two singers went on to collaborate on several other songs, Jonam Jonam has remained a favourite among listeners over the years.
Imran shared the news on social media on Friday afternoon, expressing his excitement over the song’s achievement.
“This was the first duet song I recorded with Porshi in my music career. And now, the song has crossed 100 million views,” he wrote.
He added, “Although this song was released before the YouTube era became so prominent, it is truly wonderful that it continues to receive love from listeners even today, keeping pace with changes in time and technology.”
Written by popular lyricist Robiul Islam Jibon, Jonom Jonom was featured on Porshi’s third solo album. Imran composed and arranged the song.
“It was one of the most popular songs from that album. My heartfelt congratulations and love to everyone associated with the song. May Jonom Jonom continue to live on through the love of listeners,” Imran wrote.
The official music video was released on G-Series’ YouTube channel on 7 February 2017. The video was directed by Ramya Khan.
The song’s continued popularity demonstrates how music released during the transition from the era of audio CDs and cassettes to digital platforms can find new audiences years later.
Following Imran’s post, fans flooded the comments with congratulations and nostalgic memories of the song.
Lyricist Robiul Islam Jibon also responded to the milestone with a message of appreciation.
One fan recalled listening to the song on an old Nokia phone and wrote that they still listen to it on YouTube and experience the same feeling as before.
