Jatiya Jubo Shakti has strongly condemned the arrest of its leader Ayon Rahman Khan by individuals identifying themselves as DB police, alleging that he was taken in a “false, baseless, and politically motivated” case.
The organisation expressed deep concern and protest over the incident, which it described as inhumane and contrary to civil rights.
According to family sources, around 11:30pm on Saturday, Ayon Rahman Khan was taken away by DB-identified individuals while he was at Janata Clinic in Jessore, where his father was undergoing treatment.
“The act of taking away a son while he was beside his ailing father is extremely inhumane, disgraceful, and contrary to civil rights,” National Youth Power said in a statement.
The organisation said Ayon Rahman Khan was made an accused in a case filed following a recent planned attack on National Citizen Party (NCP) Chief Coordinator Nasiruddin Patwary by BNP, Chhatra Dal, and Jubo Dal.
“This is not an isolated incident; rather, it is part of a continuous attempt to suppress political dissent, create fear, and obstruct democratic activities,” the statement read.
Jatiya Jubo Shakti alleged that the ruling party BNP is “using the administration and law enforcement agencies in a fascist manner to silence opposition political forces.”
“Filing cases and arresting victim NCP leaders and activists instead of seeking justice for the attack proves that the ruling party has deliberately chosen the path of political harassment,” the organisation said.
Jatiya Jubo Shakti demanded the immediate unconditional release of Ayon Rahman Khan, withdrawal of the case against him, an end to politically motivated repression, and accountability for those involved in the incident.
“In the democratic Bangladesh that emerged after the July Mass Uprising, the politics of political revenge and fear can never be acceptable,” the organisation said, calling upon citizens, democratic forces, and human rights organisations to raise their voices against the incident.
