Janata Bank PLC kicked off a fifteen-working-day training course on foreign exchange and international trade finance at its staff college in Dhaka on Sunday, a move the lender said would sharpen the skills of officers crucial to expanding its non-interest income, the bank said in a press release.

Managing Director Md Mojibur Rahman inaugurated the course, titled “Foreign Exchange and International Trade Finance (Batch 01/26),” which is being attended by 25 officers from various branches. At the inaugural ceremony, the managing director highlighted Janata Bank’s role in the country’s foreign trade business and issued directives for expanding those operations further. He noted that foreign trade business presents the greatest opportunity for generating the bank’s non-interest income.

The ceremony was also attended by the DGM and Staff College In-Charge of Janata Bank Staff College, along with other executives and faculty members.
