Three coaches of the Jamalpur Commuter train derailed near Gafargaon Railway Station in Mymensingh on Friday morning, disrupting rail services on the Dhaka-Mymensingh-Jamalpur route.
Initial reports said the three coaches immediately behind the locomotive came off the tracks shortly before the train entered Gafargaon station.
Witnesses said they heard a loud noise moments before the three coaches derailed.
No casualties or major damage were reported immediately after the accident. Senior railway officials were expected to reach the scene, while a relief train was being sent to carry out recovery work.
Mymensingh Station Superintendent Abdullah Al Harun said the cause of the derailment was not immediately known.
A relief train was on its way to the scene to recover the derailed train, he added.
