Mia Golam Porwar, secretary general of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami, has stated that the party is committed to building a humane Bangladesh, free from enforced disappearances, extrajudicial killings, corruption, and plundering.
Speaking as the chief guest at a student and youth rally held at Tala Football Ground in Satkhira on Monday afternoon, he alleged that under the rule of “fascist” Awami League government, Islamic scholars and those aligned with Islamic ideology have been subjected to brutal oppression and killings.
The individuals who dedicate their lives, actions, or struggles to serving Islam or upholding Islamic values, have been imprisoned, tortured in custody, and even executed in old age by hanging.
“Thousands, even millions, have been subjected to enforced disappearances, crossfire killings, and torture in secret detention centres simply for following the path of Islam and opposing fascism,” he claimed.
He further alleged that millions of people across Bangladesh have been imprisoned in false cases, adding, “Jamaat-e-Islami wants to build a Bangladesh free from abduction, murder, looting, and corruption.”
Golam Porwar stated that people across the country, including in Satkhira, are now eager to cast their votes for the “scale” (the election symbol of Jamaat-e-Islami). Urging the people of Tala and Kolaroa to remain calm and not to fall into provocation, he warned that certain groups are conspiring to suppress Jamaat’s growing public support.
“Jamaat does not seize land, grab property, or engage in illegal sand lifting. If Jamaat comes to power, there will be no unemployment, no corruption, and no looting,” he asserted, calling upon all to vote for the scale in the upcoming election.
The rally was presided over by Tala Upazila Jamaat Ameer Mawlana Mofidullah.
Central Working Committee Member Principal Izzat Ullah, Central Secretary of Islami Chhatra Shibir Nurul Islam Saddam, Jamaat’s Central Organisational Secretary and Khulna Region Director Muhaddis Abdul Khaleq, Khulna Assistant Regional Director Mawlana Abul Kalam Azad, District Ameer Vice Principal Shahidul Islam Mukul, Nayeb-e-Ameer Sheikh Mahmudul Haque, District Secretary Mawlana Azizur Rahman, and Assistant Secretary Professor Sujayet Ali, were present at the rally as special guests, among others.
