A local leader of Jamaat-e-Islami has died after being bitten by a snake in Chuadanga Sadar upazila.
Darshana Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md Himel Rana confirmed the matter on Monday. The leader has been identified as Shafayat Ullah. He died 9am while undergoing treatment at Chuadanga Sadar Hospital.
Shafayat served as the president of the Ulama department of Begumpur Union Jamaat-e-Islami.
According to local sources, Shafayat was sleeping at his residence when a venomous snake bit him around 1am. Then family members admitted him to the hospital where he died.
OC Himel said an unnatural death case has been filed.
