Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Shafiqur Rahman has pledged to introduce a dignified salary structure for government employees if his party forms the government.

Addressing an election street meeting in Daudkandi, Cumilla, on Saturday, he explained that this measure is intended to ensure that officials are not “susceptible to corruption.”

During his speech, the Jamaat Ameer criticised other political figures who promise to transform Bangladesh into nations like Switzerland or Singapore.

“We do not want to say such things,” he stated, adding that his vision is to keep Bangladesh as it is while fostering a humane and just society.

Highlighting the party’s collaborative approach, Shafiqur Rahman clarified that Jamaat-e-Islami is not contesting the election in isolation but as part of an 11-party alliance.

He expressed a desire for a united country that embraces people of all religions, opinions, and backgrounds.

He further instructed supporters to work collectively for whichever candidate is assigned the 11-party alliance’s symbol in their respective areas.

Regarding the upcoming election on 12 February, the Ameer called upon the public to cast their votes and guard the polling centres.

He asserted that they would not allow any “miscreants” to engage in vote theft and maintained that the alliance would return home “as victors” once the final count is settled.
