Leading Bangladeshi production house Jaaz Multimedia is set for a major comeback, announcing plans to begin work on seven films simultaneously with a focus on new directors, fresh talent and a renewed production strategy.

The company, which formally entered the industry in 2012 with ‘Bhalobasar Rong’, played a key role in shaping modern Dhallywood cinema.

Over the years, Jaaz Multimedia introduced several popular stars, including Bappy Chowdhury, Mahiya Mahi, Siam Ahmed, Nusraat Faria, Puja Cherry and Roshan, while also backing emerging directors such as Saikat Nasir and Raihan Rafi.

The production house has previously delivered a string of commercially successful titles, including ‘Shikari’, ‘Badsha’, ‘Nabab’ and ‘Agnee’, and was instrumental in modernising cinema hall projection systems across the country.

After a quieter phase in recent years, the company is now preparing for a large-scale return. Its chairman Abdul Aziz said shooting for seven new films will begin on May 2, with four projects directed by newcomers.

He confirmed that fresh faces will be introduced as part of the slate, adding that the female lead will be formally revealed at a press conference in the coming days. However, the male lead, known only as Saaj, will remain undisclosed until release, with strict measures in place to maintain secrecy during production.

According to Aziz, the production model will also be tightly controlled, with artist fees capped while prioritising investment in shooting and technical quality. He added that mobile phones will not be allowed on set to prevent leaks.

Explaining the decision to produce multiple films at once, Aziz said the approach is driven by commercial strategy, allowing the company to balance risk across projects rather than relying on individual outcomes. He also indicated that the films will be released in stages throughout the year, including major festive periods such as Eid.
