The Israeli military has killed at least 97 Palestinians and injured 230 since a ceasefire took effect in the Gaza Strip on 10 October, Al Jazeera reported, citing the Gaza government.
The Gaza Government Media Office stated that the “Israeli occupation committed 80 documented violations since the declaration of the ceasefire, in flagrant breach of international humanitarian law.”
These violations reportedly involved gunfire directed at civilians, artillery shelling, intentional targeting, the establishment of “fire belts,” and the detention of civilians.
The statement added that Israeli forces utilised military vehicles, tanks positioned near residential areas, electronic cranes with remote targeting systems, as well as warplanes and drones to carry out these attacks.
“These violations were recorded across all Gaza governorates without exception, confirming that the occupation has not abided by the ceasefire and continues its policy of killing and terror against our people,” the statement continued. The Gaza government placed full responsibility for these breaches on the Israeli army and urged the United Nations and other guarantor parties to urgently intervene to stop the violations.
The ceasefire agreement, brokered by a plan proposed by US President Donald Trump, was implemented on 10 October. The agreement includes a gradual withdrawal of Israeli forces, a mutual exchange of prisoners, immediate entry of humanitarian aid, and the disarmament of Hamas.
The truce came after two years of conflict that resulted in the deaths of more than 68,000 Palestinians, the injury of approximately 170,000, and widespread destruction of Gaza’s infrastructure.
