Islami Bank Bangladesh has decided to accept a strategic foreign investment of nearly Tk245 crore for its mobile financial service, M-Cash.

The investment will come from a US-based firm, the bank informed investors on Monday through the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE).

The US-based investment firm B100 Holdings LLC will make this investment. The bank’s board of directors approved the acceptance of the investment in a meeting held on Sunday.

The move will raise the subsidiary’s capital to Tk500 crore.

According to Bangladesh Bank regulations, 51 percent ownership of a mobile banking service must remain with a commercial bank.

Islami Bank stated, keeping that share intact, up to 48.99 percent of the remaining shares will be allotted to the foreign firm. This allows B100 Holdings LLC USA to invest a total of Tk244.95 crore in foreign currency.

Islami Bank expects the fresh investment to strengthen M-Cash’s liquidity and expand its service network. The bank said it will complete all regulatory and legal procedures before finalising the foreign investment.

M-Cash was launched in December 2012, operating directly under Islami Bank’s infrastructure.

In January 2026, the bank established M-Cash as a separate subsidiary. The company has an authorised capital of Tk1,000 crore, of which Tk50 crore has been paid up.
