Islami Bank Bangladesh PLC convened its 42nd Annual General Meeting on Thursday, 11 December 2025, at the Kurmitola Golf Club in Dhaka. The meeting presided over by the bank’s Chairman, Professor Dr M Zubaidur Rahman, saw the approval of the financial statements for the year ended 31 December 2024.
Senior leadership in attendance included Mohammad Khurshid Wahab, chairman of the executive committee; Md Abdus Salam, chairman of the audit committee; Professor Dr M Masud Rahman, chairman of the risk management committee; independent director Md Abdul Jalil; Managing Director Md Omar Faruk Khan; and Mufti Sayeed Ahmed, Chairman of the Shari’ah Supervisory Council. A significant number of shareholders participated in the gathering.
Addressing attendees, Chairman Professor Dr M Zubaidur Rahman stated the institution had faced substantial challenges in recent years, noting that a previous group had “weakened the foundation of this top-tier institution.” He credited a turnaround to the new board of directors, formed after 5 August 2024, and the joint efforts of the bank’s employees.
Rahman asserted that the bank has now cleared all its outstanding dues with the Bangladesh central bank, a recovery he attributed to the trust of its 25 million clients and the public. “Islami Bank stands as a symbol of trust,” he said.
He detailed that following what he termed the “July Revolution,” Bangladesh Bank appointed the current board to revive the institution and protect depositor interests. Board members are now focused on establishing good governance and strengthening the bank’s financial base, he added.
The chairman concluded by expressing gratitude to clients and well-wishers for their continued trust and thanked shareholders for their encouragement.
