Islami Andolan Bangladesh has postponed its previously announced national grand rally scheduled for 9 January, citing respect for the primary teacher recruitment examination and the prevailing election environment.
The decision was taken at a regular meeting of the party’s central committee on Friday afternoon, chaired by party Ameer Mufti Syed Muhammad Rezaul Karim.
Senior party leaders, including Presidium Member Maulana Syed Mosaddeq Billah Al Madani, Secretary General Principal Maulana Yunus Ahmed, Presidium Member Professor Mahbubur Rahman, Joint Secretary General Maulana Gazi Ataur Rahman, Engineer Ashraful Alam, Maulana Sheikh Fazle Bari Masud, Assistant Secretary General Maulana Ahmad Abdul Qayyum, KM Atiqur Rahman and Central Organising Secretary Shah Iftekhar Tariq, were present at the meeting.
Islami Andolan Bangladesh had earlier announced the 9 January rally demanding the arrest of those responsible for the killing of Shahid Sharif Osman Hadi, improvement of the law and order situation, and the establishment of a level playing field. The programme was announced following a party meeting held on December 25.
However, in consideration of the primary teacher recruitment examination scheduled for the same day and out of respect for the electoral atmosphere, the party decided to suspend the rally.
