Iran has granted permission for six Bangladesh-flagged vessels stranded in the Strait of Hormuz to proceed with their passage.
The Iranian Ambassador to Bangladesh, Jalil Rahimi Jahanabadi, disclosed the development during a press conference held at the Iranian Embassy on Wednesday. He informed reporters that Iran’s National Security Council has approved assistance for the vessels.
According to the ambassador, the ships could not be identified earlier due to a lack of detailed specifications. Following a request from the Iranian authorities, the Bangladesh government provided the necessary detailed specifications of the vessels last week.
Ambassador Jahanabadi further stated that work on the matter is currently ongoing and confirmed there are no remaining problems regarding the movement of the Bangladeshi ships. He assured that Iran will extend “full cooperation” in this regard.
