The draft of the Bangladesh Telecommunications Ordinance 2025 has introduced a provision banning internet shutdowns along with several major reforms aimed at strengthening transparency and protecting citizens’ digital rights.
The Posts and Telecommunications Division has published the draft on its website seeking opinions from the public and stakeholders, according to a press release signed by Muhammad Jashim Uddin, public relations officer of the Posts, Telecommunications and Information Technology Ministry.
The proposed law seeks to make the telecommunications sector more transparent, accountable, and citizen-focused. It also updates several existing legal provisions to align with the rapidly evolving digital landscape.
Feedback on the draft can be submitted by 15 November to the Secretary, Posts and Telecommunications Division.
