In its official statement, the interim government called the International Crimes Tribunal’s verdict against ousted prime minister Sheikh Hasina ‘historic’.
It reads, “The death penalty announced against former prime minister Sheikh Hasina and former home minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal for crimes against humanity is a historic verdict.”
It went on to urge called upon all citizens to remain calm and composed in its aftermath, stating, “Everyone is especially requested to refrain from any form of disorder, provocative behaviour, violence, or unlawful activities in the post-verdict period. Emotions may naturally arise among the public, particularly the families of those martyred in the July mass uprising, who have long awaited this verdict.”
It concluded by saying, “The government further makes it clear that any attempt at chaos, disruption, or breach of public order will be dealt with strictly.”
