Radical social media influencer Andrew Tate and his brother Tristan were arrested Saturday in Miami, the US Marshals Service confirmed to AFP, as Britain moves to extradite them on new charges of rape, sex trafficking, and assault.
Officials said 39‑year‑old Andrew Tate, a self‑described misogynist, and his younger brother were taken into custody under a sealed warrant. “We are not able to disclose the charges,” the Marshals Service confirmed.
US outlet TMZ released video showing law enforcement officers handcuffing the brothers and escorting them into waiting vehicles, reports AFP.
Tristan Tate did not respond when asked by an onlooker if he had a comment, according to footage posted on X.
The UK Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) confirmed the arrests and said prosecutors will seek extradition. “We have decided to prosecute Andrew and Tristan Tate for further offences including rape, arranging or facilitating trafficking for sexual exploitation and offences relating to indecent images of a child,” Malcolm McHaffie, head of CPS’s Special Crime Division, said.
He added that new evidence from Bedfordshire Police increased the number of alleged victims in the case to seven.
Earlier this year, Hertfordshire Police reopened a probe into rape and sexual assault allegations against Andrew Tate dating from 2014–2015. Bedfordshire Police are separately investigating allegations of rape and human trafficking linked to the brothers’ hometown of Luton.
The Tates also face accusations of tax evasion and money laundering in the UK. Both have denied all allegations.
Dual British‑US citizens, the brothers are vocal supporters of US President Donald Trump. In March 2025, Florida authorities launched a criminal investigation into them, though its current status remains unclear.
Andrew Tate is a prominent figure in the so‑called “manosphere,” a network of online communities promoting traditional masculinity, anti‑feminism, and self‑improvement. He has built a following of more than 10.8 million on X, often sharing divisive content with alpha‑male and aggressively misogynistic themes.
In Romania, where the brothers have lived in recent years, they face separate allegations of trafficking minors, sexual relations with a minor, and money laundering.
