National inflation increased slightly to 8.36% in September, up from 8.29% in August, reversing several months of easing, according to the Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics (BBS).
In September 2024, inflation stood at 9.92%.
Food inflation rose by 4 basis points for the second consecutive month, reaching 7.64% in September, compared to 10.4% in the same month last year.
Non-food inflation increased to 8.98%, up from 8.90% in August and 9.5% in September 2024.
Rural inflation rose by 8 basis points to 8.47% in September, driven by both food and non-food inflation. Urban inflation also increased, rising to 8.28% from 8.24% the previous month.
Inflation tracks the increase in price levels over a period, compared to the same period a year ago.
