Point-to-point inflation rose again in November to 8.29% following a brief drop to 8.17% in the previous month, according to the Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics (BBS).
The latest inflation data released on Sunday reveals that higher food prices contributed to the inflation hike.
Food inflation rose to 7.36% in November, from 7.08% in the previous month, while non-food inflation dropped to 9.08% from 9.13%.
Point-to-point inflation refers to the change in price levels from one month to the next compared to the same month a year ago.
Despite the central bank’s strong and tight monetary stance, including keeping the policy rate at 10%, inflation remains above its expected level.
However, inflation was much higher in 2024. The general inflation was at 11.38% in November 2024, with food inflation at 13.8% and non-food inflation at 9.39%.
