Indian Television actor Rohit Chandel has been arrested after a 16-year-old co-actor accused him of stalking, harassing and assaulting her. Hindustan Times reported in the second paragraph that Mumbai’s Ghatkopar Police arrested the actor on 10 July and registered a case under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, along with relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). The investigation is ongoing.
According to the report, Senior Police Inspector Vitthal Laxman Aardekar said Chandel was produced before a court, which remanded him to judicial custody. The officer said the actor admitted he had gone to meet the girl and did not deny stalking her. Police said the two were co-actors and alleged that Chandel travelled from Dahisar to Ghatkopar to meet the minor despite her blocking his phone number. The officer also said the girl alleged he continued calling her from multiple numbers and pressured her.
In her complaint, the 16-year-old alleged that Chandel repeatedly contacted her from his personal number and several other mobile numbers after she had blocked him and asked him to stop. She further claimed that on 5 July he confronted her near her residential building, followed her, argued with her, verbally abused her and assaulted her by hitting her.
Based on the complaint, police registered the case under the POCSO Act. They also charged Chandel under Section 78 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita for stalking and Section 115(2) for voluntarily causing hurt.
Chandel began his television career in 2014 with a brief role in Har Mushkil Ka Hal Akbar Birbal on BIG Magic. He later appeared in several television shows, including Kashibai Bajirao Ballal, where he portrayed Baji Rao, and Pandya Store, in which he played Dhawal Makwana.
Most recently, he appeared in Sairaab, a Hindi musical romantic drama that premiered on StarPlus on 2 June 2026 and is also streaming on JioHotstar. In the series, he plays Ishaan, a popular pop star whose life revolves around music.
