Indian inmate dies at DMCH

An Indian citizen, who was being held at Dhaka Central Jail in Keraniganj, has died at Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH).

The deceased was identified as Mohan Lal, 55, son of Chinta Singh.

According to prison sources, Mohan Lal was accused in a case filed with the Padma Bridge (South) Police Station under the Control of Entry Act, 1952.

He was initially an inmate at Shariatpur District Jail, where he fell ill. He was subsequently transferred to DMCH via Dhaka Central Jail for medical treatment.

Inspector Md Faruk, in-charge of the DMCH Police Camp, confirmed the matter, stating that prison guards brought the inmate to the hospital in an unconscious state at approximately 5:30 pm on Wednesday.

Upon arrival, the duty doctor pronounced him dead following an examination. The body has been kept in the hospital morgue for an autopsy.
