A total of 176 international flights operating from Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport (HSIA) have been cancelled following the temporary closure of airspace across several Middle Eastern nations.
According to a press release issued by the Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh (CAAB) on Wednesday, the disruptions are a result of the prevailing security situation in the Middle East that emerged on 28 February 2026.
Consequently, authorities in Iran, Iraq, Kuwait, the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Qatar, and Jordan have temporarily closed their respective airspace.
The flight disruptions began on 28 February with 23 cancellations. This was followed by 40 flights on 1 March, 46 flights on 2 March, and 39 flights on 3 March.
As of 4 March 2026, an additional 28 flights have been cancelled. The breakdown of these latest cancellations includes eight flights by Air Arabia (Sharjah, UAE), five by Emirates, and four each by Qatar Airways and US-Bangla Airlines.
Biman Bangladesh Airlines reported three cancellations, while Kuwait Airways and Jazeera Airways (Kuwait) each saw two of their flights cancelled.
The CAAB continues to monitor the situation as the regional security crisis impacts international air travel.
