India captain Surya Kumar Yadav said he remains unconcerned about his form after his side’s win in Dharamsala, even as his recent run of scores continues to draw scrutiny ahead of the fourth T20I in Lucknow on Monday.
Chasing 118, Surya Kumar came in late and had the chance to finish the match but was dismissed for 12 off 11 balls, hitting two fours before losing his wicket attempting a shot that has long been a hallmark of his batting. Once a reliable scoring option, that stroke has recently brought him trouble.
Despite the numbers, the captain insisted his confidence remains intact. “I’m batting very well in the nets. The runs will come,” Surya Kumar said after the match. “Yes, I’m not scoring runs right now. I’m not in runs, but I’m in form. I’m hopeful I’ll be back in form soon.”
The broader statistics underline the challenge. Against pace bowlers in 2025, Surya Kumar has scored 122 runs in 18 innings at an average of 14.2. India were also coming off a heavy defeat to South Africa in the previous game, making the response in Dharamsala significant.
Surya Kumar said the team focused on learning rather than overcorrecting. “You need to learn from defeats. That’s what we did,” he said. “We didn’t try too many experiments. We trusted ourselves and that changed the game.”
India’s bowlers laid the platform for the victory, a marked turnaround from conceding 213 runs three days earlier. “After the loss in Chandigarh, the bowlers sat together and looked at what we did wrong,” Surya Kumar said. “We tried to bowl here the way we did in Cuttack.”
With India leading the series, victory in Lucknow would secure it. “We’re travelling to Lucknow on Monday,” Surya Kumar added. “Once we get there, we’ll start planning for the next match.”
