The International Crimes Tribunal-1 has taken cognisance of charges against Sajeeb Wazed Joy and Zunaid Ahmed Palak in a case concerning crimes against humanity during the July mass uprising.
The hearing on charge framing is scheduled for 10 December.
According to court sources, the ICT-1 has issued an arrest warrant against Joy who was information and communication technology (ICT) affairs adviser of former prime minister Sheikh Hasina. The prosecution has filed an application to show Palak as arrested in the case.
The investigating agency has filed the investigation report to the prosecution and after examining the report, the prosecution formally submitted the charges before the tribunal.
The investigation of the case was conducted considering Joy’s superior command responsibility as one of the masterminds behind the crimes during the July uprising. Sources from the prosecution claim that he used his official position and status to try to suppress the mass uprising by shutting down the internet.
