The Institute of Cost and Management Accountants of Bangladesh (ICMAB) has inaugurated its ESG Centre to advance environmental, social and governance practices and sustainability leadership.
ICMAB President Md Kausar Alam formally inaugurated the centre on Tuesday, said a press release on Wednesday.
SDG and ESG Committee Chairman Md Salim Uddin, past ICMAB President Mohammed Salim, committee members and institute officials attended the event.
The centre will serve as a platform for professional capacity building, research, technical guidance, knowledge development and stakeholder engagement on ESG and sustainability issues. It aims to position the accounting and finance profession at the forefront of the sustainability transformation.
Through training, research and professional dialogue, the Centre will support organisations in strengthening sustainability governance, improving ESG-related information and incorporating environmental and social considerations into strategy, performance management and resource allocation.
The centre will also provide a platform for engagement among professional accountants, corporate leaders, regulators, policymakers, academia, financial institutions and sustainability practitioners.
The inauguration marks ICMAB’s move from sustainability advocacy to a dedicated institutional mechanism for sustained ESG action.
