Bangladesh captain Nigar Sultana received an ICC reprimand and one demerit point on Monday after breaching the code of conduct during the third and final match against Sri Lanka in Sylhet.
The incident took place in a rain-shortened nine-over game on Saturday. Bangladesh chased 88 and needed 14 from the final over. Nigar fell to a catch off the first ball and threw her bat to the ground as she walked off.
Match officials charged her under Article 2.2, which covers misuse of equipment during an international match. On-field umpires Eloise Sheridan and Shathira Jakir Jessy, third umpire Rokeya Sultana and fourth umpire Champa Chakma reported the offence. Match referee Supriya Rani Das imposed the sanction.
Nigar accepted the charge and the penalty. The admission removed the need for a formal hearing. The offence counts as Level 1 and adds one demerit point to her record. It stands as her first breach in the last 24 months.
Bangladesh lost the match by three runs and suffered a clean sweep in the series. The side had already lost the one-day series 2-1 and then conceded all three matches in the T20 leg.
The Sri Lanka tour also saw other disciplinary cases. Nahida Akter and Sharmin Sultana each received a 10 per cent fine and one demerit point earlier in the series for separate breaches.
