Two members of an International Cricket Council (ICC) delegation arrived in Dhaka on Monday, a member of the Bangladesh Cricket Board’s (BCB) current ad-hoc committee confirmed.
The delegation is expected to meet BCB stakeholders at the board’s headquarters at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur on Tuesday to discuss developments in the country’s cricket administration.
The ICC later confirmed the visit through an official statement.
“Two ICC Board representatives, Dr Mohammed Moosaje (Cricket South Africa) and Tavengwa Mukuhlani (Zimbabwe Cricket), are scheduled to visit Bangladesh to engage with stakeholders regarding the situation in Bangladesh, including the BCB electoral process,” the ICC said.
The visit comes at a significant time, with changes in the BCB’s leadership structure and the board election scheduled for June 7. According to sources within the BCB, the ICC representatives will hold discussions regarding the progress of the upcoming election.
BCB is currently being run by an 11-member ad-hoc committee led by former Bangladesh captain Tamim Iqbal. The committee was appointed after the National Sports Council dissolved the previous Aminul Islam-led board, citing large-scale irregularities in the last board election based on findings submitted by an inquiry committee.
