Brazil legend Ronaldo believes Spain will beat Argentina with ease in the FIFA World Cup 2026 final.
The former striker said Spain have been the strongest team in the tournament. He feels their style of play will be too much for the defending champions.
Spain and Argentina will meet in the final in New York, New Jersey. Spain arrive unbeaten in 37 matches and have conceded only one goal in the tournament.
Argentina are chasing a second straight World Cup title after winning the trophy in 2022.
Ronaldo said he expects Spain to lift the trophy.
“I think Spain will win the game and win it easily,” he said.
The former Brazil star added that Spain and France were his favourites before the tournament began.
“For me, France and Spain were always the favourites,” Ronaldo said.
He believes Spain’s control of possession will make life very difficult for Argentina.
“I do not think Argentina have the strength to come back if Spain take a one or two goal lead,” he said.
“Spain will keep the ball and control the match.”
Spain have not fallen behind in any match during the tournament. They are now one win away from lifting their second World Cup title after their success in 2010.
Argentina are aiming to win a fourth World Cup and become the first men’s team since Brazil in 1962 to defend the trophy.
Ronaldo, however, praised Argentina’s campaign.
He said reaching another World Cup final only four years after winning the title is a major achievement.
Few players understand the pressure of a World Cup final better than Ronaldo.
He won the World Cup with Brazil in 1994. He then reached the 1998 final before making a famous return in 2002, when he scored eight goals, including both in the final against Germany.
Ronaldo finished his World Cup career with 15 goals in 19 matches and remains one of Brazil’s greatest players.
