Nagarbaul James is set to return to Rome for a concert on 16 August after a 12-year break. The date also marks the birth anniversary of late rock icon Ayub Bachchu, prompting memories of the singer during a press conference ahead of the show.
At a press conference held at a luxury hotel in Rome, James recalled his long friendship and professional association with Bachchu. While speaking about the sense of emptiness left by his friend’s death, James chose not to elaborate.
“We always worked together. We were a pair. After he left, I feel very lonely. I do not want to say more about it,” James said.
Speaking about his return to Rome after a long gap, James said the genuine love and support of expatriate Bangladeshis have always remained a major source of inspiration for Bangladeshi artists.
He said the large turnout of Bangladeshis in Rome made him feel as though he was not in Italy at all. Instead, he felt he was sitting in a hotel or attending a press conference somewhere in Bangladesh.
James also expressed hope that a new generation of artists will take Bangla culture and music much further in the years ahead.
