Nearly three decades after the death of film icon Salman Shah, the mystery surrounding his demise has resurfaced once again. Following a recent court order converting the long-standing unnatural death case into a murder case, the issue has reignited public debate and with it, speculation involving actress Shabnoor, Salman’s frequent co-star.
In the midst of growing rumours, Shabnoor has broken her silence. In a Facebook post on Monday titled “Again, Some Words About Salman Shah”, the actress expressed deep frustration at being drawn into the controversy once more, calling out the “false propaganda” circulating about her relationship with the late actor.
“A murder case has been filed at Ramna Police Station on October 21, as per court order, in connection with the death of legendary actor Salman Shah 29 years ago. I learned of this through media reports while abroad,” Shabnoor wrote.
“Many have sought my comment, but since the matter is under judicial consideration, I preferred to remain silent. Unfortunately, I have seen people deliberately spreading misleading and baseless information linking my name to this case. I strongly condemn such falsehoods and urge everyone to refrain from spreading untrue claims.”
Reflecting on her professional bond with Salman, Shabnoor described him as her “favourite co-star” and credited him for shaping her acting career.
“We worked together in about 14 films. Salman was a hugely popular, immensely talented actor. My film career flourished because of my work with him,” she wrote.
The actress also spoke candidly about the emotional toll his death took on her, “I was deeply affected by Salman’s untimely death. The success of our on-screen pairing once sparked envy among many. After his passing, certain individuals may have spread rumours about our relationship, perhaps to protect themselves or for other motives. Those falsehoods caused me great mental distress.”
Reaffirming her call for justice, Shabnoor stated, “Even today, I want to make it clear: I truly don’t know how Salman Shah died. I only seek a fair and thorough investigation. Whoever is responsible should face justice and appropriate punishment. That is my only demand.”
She also extended sympathy to Salman’s mother, Neela Chowdhury, saying, “Seeing Aunty’s grief, I can feel the unbearable pain of losing a child. I offer my heartfelt condolences to her and her family and I pray for Salman Shah’s soul to rest in peace.”
Shabnoor has been residing permanently in Sydney, Australia, for several years with her son, Aizan. Although she announced plans to return to acting last year and even joined rehearsals for two upcoming films, she later returned to Australia without completing the projects.
