Chinese textile manufacturer Huarun Tex Co Ltd will invest $30 million to establish a textile manufacturing factory at the Bepza Economic Zone in Mirsharai, Chattogram, creating 580 jobs for Bangladeshi nationals.
The factory will be built on 36,000 square metres of land and, once fully operational, will produce 24,000 tonnes of yarn and 20 million metres of grey woven fabric annually.
The Bangladesh Export Processing Zones Authority (Bepza) and Huarun Tex signed a land lease agreement at the Bepza Complex in Dhaka on 16 July.
Bepza Member (Investment Promotion) Md Tanvir Hossain and Huarun Tex Managing Director Bin Wang signed the agreement on behalf of their respective organisations. Bepza Executive Chairman Major General Mohammad Moazzem Hossain witnessed the signing.
The executive chairman thanked Huarun Tex for choosing the Bepza Economic Zone for its investment and said Bepza would continue to provide a safe, modern and business-friendly environment for investors while extending full support to help the company operate smoothly.
The signing ceremony was attended by Bepza Member (Engineering) Abdullah Al Mamun, Member (Finance) A N M Foyzul Haque, Executive Director (Enterprise Services) Md Khorshid Alam, Executive Director (Administration) Samir Biswas, Bepza Economic Zone Project Director Mohammad Anamul Haque, Executive Director (Public Relations) A S M Anwar Parvez, senior Bepza officials and representatives of Huarun Tex.
