The Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh (CAAB) is working to launch the Third Terminal of Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport (HSIA) on 16 December, in accordance with government directives.
Speaking at a workshop on Monday afternoon regarding civil aviation and air traffic operations, CAAB Chairman Air Vice Marshal Md Mostafa Mahmood Siddiq expressed hope that a contract for the ground handling of Third Terminal would be signed with Japan by late August or early September.
In the interest of passenger safety, the chairman urged media personnel to refrain from flying drones in the airport area. He further announced that an anti-drone system would be purchased for the airport this year to ensure comprehensive security in the vicinity.
The chairman also highlighted that the establishment of new Air Traffic Control (ATC) system is set to boost national revenue.
Specifically, revenue from flight charges collected from foreign aircraft traversing the country’s maritime boundaries is expected to increase by 8% annually.
Following the conclusion of the workshop, CAAB chairman distributed certificates to the participating journalists.
