Customs House Dhaka on Thursday issued a special e-auction notice inviting bids for the sale of various goods stored at the Airfreight Unit, Express Service Unit and state warehouses under Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport (HSIA).
The initiative aims to improve operational efficiency and expand the cargo handling capacity of the airport. It also seeks to address emerging security risks, ensure physical and financial safety, safeguard lives and property, and prevent wastage of state assets, according to a press release issued on Thursday.
Under the programme, assorted goods stored at the Airfreight Unit and Express Service Unit will be sold through an online auction system on an “as is, where is” basis.
As per a special order issued by the National Board of Revenue (NBR), the highest bid for each lot in the first round of auction will be accepted if it meets the reserved price.
Interested bidders can participate in the e-auction from 9am on 18 June to 1pm on 2 July through the online platform linked with the websites of Customs House Dhaka, the National Board of Revenue and Bangladesh Customs.
Officials said the entire auction process will be conducted digitally to ensure transparency and accountability. Bidders will be allowed to physically inspect goods before submitting online bids to make the process more competitive.
However, participants must also submit pay orders for security deposits along with required documents in designated tender boxes, in addition to online bidding.
Successful bidders will have to clear the goods in line with the Import Policy Order 2021–2024, the release said.
Information on bidders will be disclosed at 3pm on 2 July at the conference room of Customs House Dhaka through the e-auction software system.
Customs authorities said similar auction activities will continue in future as part of efforts to further improve efficiency and capacity at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport.
