Actress Jannatul Sumaiya Heme, long recognised for her steady presence in television dramas, is set to showcase a new side of herself in the upcoming family-drama ‘Mayer Shashon’. Although she has frequently appeared in light-hearted and comedic roles, Heme has consistently sought out fresh and varied characters. This time, she takes on a more emotionally layered story centred on a mother’s love and the strict discipline that shapes a young woman’s life.

Written and directed by Mohin Khan, Mayer Shashon casts Monira Akter Mithu and Jannatul Sumaiya Hemie as the drama’s central mother–daughter duo. The narrative explores the sacrifices, patience, affection and firmness that define a mother’s role, set against the backdrop of contemporary family dynamics.

“This project is quite different within my acting career,” Heme said. “The audience will see a new Heme in this drama. It offers not only a new character but also a distinct kind of story. Mayer Shasan reflects today’s lifestyle and, I believe, will leave a strong impression on viewers.”

The makers hope the drama will remind audiences of the value of a mother’s guidance in keeping children from losing their way.

The cast also includes Rocky Khan, Rimu Roja Khandaker, Alamgir Hossain, Muhith Tamal, Fayaz Farabi, Mafia Bithi, Minu Sirja and several others in supporting roles.

Mayer Shashon will be released soon on Naf Entertainment’s YouTube channel.
