The International Crimes Tribunal is set to hold a hearing on charges of crimes against humanity against four senior figures of the ousted Awami League government, including former ICT adviser and Sheikh Hasina’s son Sajeeb Wazed Joy.
On December 4, the tribunal accepted the charges against Joy and former state minister for ICT, Zunaid Ahmed Palak, and set Wednesday (December 10) as the date for the next hearing. The order was given by International Crimes Tribunal-1 led by Justice Md Golam Mortuza Mojumdar.
An arrest warrant had already been issued against Joy on that day. Salman F Rahman, former adviser to the ousted prime minister Sheikh Hasina, and Anisul Huq, former law minister, have been ordered to be produced before ICT-1.
Both were shown as arrested for crimes against humanity committed during the July uprising last year.
Joy and Palak are being tried together in the case, with three charges brought against them. In another case, Salman and Anisul face five charges.
According to the tribunal’s order, Anisul, Salman, and Palak—currently in prison—will be produced before the tribunal on Wednesday.
