Bangladesh and Nepal played out a 2–2 draw in a friendly on Tuesday at the National Stadium in Dhaka, where Hamza Choudhury scored twice yet could not deliver a home win. The Leicester City midfielder drew widespread praise for a spectacular bicycle kick that pulled Bangladesh level early in the second half.
Nepal had taken the lead on 29 minutes through Rohit Chand, who found the corner with a driven low shot. Hamza equalised in the 46th minute, meeting Jamal Bhuiyan’s cushioned volley with an acrobatic finish that flew into the far corner. The strike triggered a wave of reaction across social media, with fans celebrating the rare moment of flair from a defensive midfielder. Even FIFA joined in, posting two images of the goal on its World Cup page with a caption in Bangla that meant “Flying Hamza”.
Leicester City also highlighted the performance, sharing three match photos and noting the quality of the bicycle kick.
Hamza put Bangladesh ahead three minutes later, converting a penalty for his second of the evening. The hosts held that advantage deep into added time, as the crowd sensed a morale-boosting win. However, Nepal found a late equaliser in the third minute of stoppage time when Ananta Tamang flicked in Dinesh’s corner, sealing a result that felt like a missed opportunity for Bangladesh.
