Habiganj district administration has withdrawn the Section 144 order imposed in the municipal area on Wednesday amid tensions over protest programmes by the National Citizen Party (NCP) and BNP‑affiliated groups.
District Magistrate GM Sarfaraz issued the withdrawal order Thursday morning, saying law enforcement reports showed no longer any risk of disorder.
The restriction was imposed after both NCP and BNP groups announced rallies at the same venue Wednesday, raising concerns about law and order.
After the developments, NCP leaders ended their protest and filed a complaint against 11 named individuals, including Habiganj district Chhatra Dal President Rajib Ahmed Ringon, and 100 unidentified people.
Tanmoy Taher, convener of district Jubo Shakti, lodged the complaint alleging an attack on the NCP motorcade Tuesday evening.
It was filed around 8:30pm Wednesday at Kamai Chhara police camp in Bahubal upazila.
