Oscar-winning actor Gwyneth Paltrow has said she was once fired from a film project shortly after her divorce from Coldplay singer Chris Martin, as industry executives feared the intense media attention surrounding the split.
Speaking on Amy Poehler’s ‘Good Hang’ podcast, Paltrow said the decision came in the wake of her highly publicised 2014 separation, which she famously described as a “conscious uncoupling”. She recalled being told that the distributor considered her involvement “too hot to touch” at the time.
Paltrow said the backlash to the phrase had been deeply personal, explaining that many people reacted strongly because it challenged conventional ideas of divorce.
The actor is currently receiving positive reviews for her role in ‘Marty Supreme’, a sports drama directed by Josh Safdie. The film stars Timothée Chalamet as table tennis hustler Marty Reisman, with Paltrow playing a faded former star.
