At least 20 people, including three children, were injured after several armed men opened fire in Rudrapara village of Baghra union in Munshiganj’s Srinagar upazila.
Police said the attack took place on Sunday night following a dispute over local dominance between rival groups led by Mannan and Mizan.
Witnesses reported that armed men from Mannan’s group stormed houses belonging to their rivals and opened fire while many residents were asleep. Several family members were struck by bullets before they could react.
The assailants used shotguns, revolvers, pistols, and locally made weapons, according to Srinagar Police Station Officer-in-Charge Khandakar Jewel Mia. He said police rushed to the scene, brought the situation under control, and are now processing a case.
Of the 20 injured, 16 sustained gunshot wounds. They were initially treated at Srinagar Upazila Health Complex, while several critically wounded victims were later transferred to hospitals in Dhaka and Dohar.
The incident has sparked fear among locals, prompting the deployment of additional RAB and police personnel. Authorities assured residents that those responsible will be arrested.
Meanwhile, members of RAB-10 conducted a drive after the attack and detained Mahasin Khan, Harun Rashid Khan, and Manan Khan in connection with the incident.
