The Bangladesh Export Processing Zones Authority (BEPZA) has signed a $30.47 million land lease agreement with Green Pure Houseware (BD) Co Ltd to set up a hydroponics tent manufacturing facility at BEPZA Economic Zone.
The company, a China Hong Kong-based investor, will produce greenhouse hydroponics tents, EVA cabinet mats, cartons and PE packaging films, BEPZA said in a press release.
The hydroponics tents are portable enclosed structures designed for soil-less plant cultivation and are positioned as a non-traditional, high-value export product.
The products will be exported to the USA, Europe, the UK, Canada and Japan.
The project is expected to generate employment for 3,000 Bangladeshi nationals.
Executive Director Investment Promotion Md Tanvir Hossain signed on behalf of BEPZA, while Managing Director Wang Shenyu signed for Green Pure Houseware (BD) Co Ltd.
The authority’s Executive Chairman Major General Mohammad Moazzem Hossain witnessed the signing ceremony at the BEPZA Complex in Dhaka.
Member Engineering Abdullah Al Mamun, Member Finance A N M Foyzul Haque and Executive Director Public Relations A S M Anwar Parvez, along with senior officials of the investment promotion agency and company representatives, attended the ceremony.
The Executive Chairman said BEPZA would provide seamless services and a business-friendly environment to ensure implementation and operation of the project.
