Grameenphone Academy has trained more than 237,000 students over the past three years, marking a major milestone for the free online learning platform aimed at building digital and job-ready skills among youth.
The achievement was highlighted at a programme held recently at a hotel in Dhaka, attended by more than 450 students along with senior officials of Grameenphone and partner organisations, according to a press release.
Learners from over 167 institutions across the country have enrolled on the platform, with around 100,000 students completing courses and receiving certificates during the period.
The Grameenphone Academy Freelancing Factory Programme was cited as a key success, where 50 students earned a combined $60,000 within a year, while two participants went on to establish their own agencies.
The academy also shared progress of its Artificial Intelligence Mission, launched earlier this year to train 10,000 students in artificial intelligence within six months, with more than 5,000 learners completing courses within the first three months.
Grameenphone Chief Executive Officer Yasir Azman said digital and technology skills are now essential for national progress, adding that the academy aims to help build a future-ready workforce through practical and time-relevant courses.
The programme featured a “CEX x CEO” session with MZ Media Founder Neel Nafis, followed by an interactive discussion where Grameenphone Chief Human Resources Officer Sayeda Tahya Hossain and Chief Marketing Officer Farha Naz Zaman shared reflections from their corporate journeys.
The event also included student recognitions, a sustainability-themed Trashion Show by Shanto-Mariam University of Creative Technology, and a live performance by singer Pritom Hasan.
