Grameenphone (GP) has partnered with Proton to launch the GP co-branded Proton Jet 4G Cloud Feature Phone at Tk1,899, positioning it as the country’s lowest-priced 4G cloud feature phone to expand internet access among entry-level users.
The device is manufactured by RFL Electronics Ltd.
The telecom operator said the handset is aimed at accelerating 4G adoption and digital inclusion by offering affordable connectivity bundled with data benefits for GP customers.
A cloud feature phone operates core applications through cloud-based infrastructure rather than relying on high internal storage or advanced processors, enabling users to access essential digital services on a cost-effective device.
By shifting much of the application processing to remote servers, the model lowers hardware requirements, reduces device cost and simplifies internet access for first-time users, GP said.
Under the launch offer, customers purchasing the Proton Jet 4G will receive a one-time 1GB data pack with seven-day validity.
They will also be eligible to buy 2GB data with seven-day validity at Tk24, available once daily for six months.
The handset features a 2.4-inch QVGA display, 2,000mAh battery, front and rear cameras, 4G VoLTE support and 4G video calling.
It comes with a built-in MyGP application on a cloud platform and supports cross-platform video calls through the CloudChat app compatible with Android and iOS devices.
The device also provides access to digital applications including YouTube, Facebook and TikTok, and will be available in Mint Green and Black.
The launch event was held at GPHouse in the presence of GP CEO Yasir Azman and Pran-RFL Group Chairman and CEO Ahsan Khan Chowdhury.
Also present were GP Chief Product Officer Solaiman Alam, Chief Business Officer Dr Asif Naimur Rashid and RFL Managing Director R N Paul.
GP CEO Yasir Azman said connectivity is a key enabler of opportunity and the co-branded cloud phone is designed to make 4G access more affordable for first-time digital users.
Pran-RFL Group Chairman and CEO Ahsan Khan Chowdhury said the collaboration reflects a shared focus on delivering affordable digital solutions to underserved communities.
The Proton Jet 4G will be available through GP Experience Centers, GP Centers, GP Online Shop, Vision Emporium, RFL Best Buy outlets and Othoba.com.
