Grameenphone (GP) has partnered with Glafit Bangladesh to accelerate Bangladesh’s shift toward smarter and more sustainable electric mobility.
Glafit Bangladesh is the local subsidiary of Japan’s Glafit Inc., which develops, manufactures and markets electric personal mobility devices.
The collaboration will integrate GP’s ALO Connect machine-to-machine (M2M) platform, an Internet of Things (IoT) and digital connectivity solution, with Glafit’s electric mobility technologies.
Under the partnership, the companies will set up smart battery exchange stations and introduce IoT-enabled smart meters for electric motorcycles and scooters to support connected and data-driven transport.
GP said in a press release that the initiative aims to enhance efficiency, accessibility and convenience for users while advancing sustainable and connected transportation across the country.
The partnership was formalised through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed by Grameenphone Chief Business Officer Asif Naimur Rashid and Glafit Chief Executive Officer Teizo Narumi.
“This partnership is a forward-looking step in integrating digital innovation with sustainable mobility, as we leverage our advanced ICT and IoT capabilities to build an ecosystem where technology drives progress and empowers people, businesses and industries toward a safer and smarter future,” Grameenphone Chief Business Officer Asif Naimur Rashid said.
“The collaboration will introduce next-generation mobility solutions that are both environmentally friendly and digitally intelligent, making electric mobility more accessible and efficient for everyone,” Glafit Chief Executive Officer Teizo Narumi said.
The press release said the tradeshow-scale collaboration around connected e-mobility solutions is expected to support wider adoption of electric vehicles in Bangladesh over the coming years.
