The interim government on Monday urged political parties to reach a consensus on the referendum related to the July Charter and to submit their decision within one week.
“Such guidance will make it much easier for the government to make decisions. We must all recognise that there is no room for delay in such current situation.”
The development came after an Advisory Council meeting held at the Chief Adviser Office in the morning.
The Advisory Council meeting discussed finalising the July National Charter proposed by the National Consensus Commission, as well as the organisation of the referendum and its content as outlined in the Charter.
During the meeting, it was observed that differing opinions remain on several reform recommendations, despite prolonged discussions within the Consensus Commission. The meeting also expressed concern over the disagreements among political parties regarding the timing and content of the referendum.
In this context, the meeting emphasised the urgent need to make final decisions based on the Commission’s proposals about the referendum and its content.
The meeting also reaffirmed the government’s commitment to holding the next parliamentary elections in early February 2026.
