State Minister for Primary and Mass Education Bobby Hajjaj on Wednesday said the government aims to develop students into world-class leaders by promoting leadership, civic responsibility, ethics and social awareness beyond conventional textbook-based learning.
He made the remarks while speaking as chief guest at the national-level “Holde Pakhi Nil Komol Award 2026″ ceremony organised by the Bangladesh Girl Guides Association in Dhaka.
Addressing the students, Bobby Hajjaj said they are the future leaders of Bangladesh and that the government wants to build a generation capable of leading not only the country but also the world.
He said the government, under the leadership of Tarique Rahman, has undertaken wide-ranging reforms in the education sector to create a skilled, confident and responsible generation.
As part of the initiative, he said, the government is implementing a programme to provide nutritious midday meals to students in more than 65,000 government primary schools across the country.
The state minister said the proposed curriculum will place greater emphasis on practical life skills alongside academic learning.
Students will be taught how to become responsible citizens, maintain cleanliness in schools and homes, and contribute positively to society and the nation, he added.
He said childhood should be a time of joyful learning rather than pressure from excessive study loads, adding that the revised curriculum is being designed to encourage learning through storytelling, creativity and enjoyment.
During the ceremony, Bobby Hajjaj congratulated the award recipients and said their achievements would inspire students across the country.
A total of 57 members of Holde Pakhi from different parts of the country received the Nil Komol Award.
The event was chaired by Kazi Zebunnessa Begum and attended by Girl Guides leaders, teachers, parents, students and media representatives.
