The Cabinet Committee on Government Purchase (CCGP) on Thursday approved the procurement of 2 crore litres of refined soybean oil to meet the country’s rising demand.
The approval came at the committee’s 20th meeting of the year held at the Bangladesh Secretariat with Finance Minister Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury in the chair.
Officials said the committee cleared a Commerce Ministry proposal to import the soybean oil through an international open tender at a cost of Tk282.57 crore.
Jakarta-based PT Trinity Cahya Energy was selected as the supplier.
Although the company is based in Indonesia, the soybean oil will be imported from Europe and the European Union, officials said.
