Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has said the government will soon begin the recruitment process to fill vacant posts in various public offices to improve service delivery and administrative efficiency.
He made the remarks on Thursday afternoon during the parliamentary question-and-answer session while responding to a supplementary question from BNP lawmaker Abul Kalam of Cumilla-9.
“The government has a number of vacant posts in different departments. These are being reviewed with importance to ensure faster service delivery. Recruitment to these posts will begin as soon as possible,” the Prime Minister told Parliament.
He further informed the Parliament that the government has taken a decision to recruit 500,000 employees in the public sector. Of these, recruitment against 2,879 vacant posts under the Ministry of Public Administration and its subordinate offices is already underway.
The session began at 3pm with Speaker Hafiz Uddin Ahmed in the chair.
The first 30 minutes were allocated for the Prime Minister’s question-and-answer session, during which he responded to three starred questions and several supplementary queries from lawmakers.
In another response, the Prime Minister said the government is committed to equitable development and is ensuring equal support for development initiatives in constituencies represented by both ruling and opposition party lawmakers.
He also said that instructions had been given to the Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives Minister and the State Minister to take immediate action on issues raised by the opposition leader regarding government assistance.
“We want to work together-government and opposition alike-for the development of the country. Equal cooperation is being ensured for development activities in all constituencies,” he added.
