The government is implementing infrastructure development projects across the country as part of the prime minister’s development agenda, with a special focus on ensuring safe drinking water for all urban and municipal residents, said State Minister for Fisheries and Livestock Sultan Salauddin Tuku.
He made the remarks while inaugurating the construction work of a 680-cubic-metre overhead water tank under a water supply expansion and development project implemented by the Department of Public Health Engineering near the Eidgah ground in Ward No. 6 of Tangail municipality on Friday at 11am.
The minister said the government is working relentlessly to improve the living standards of citizens, adding that such projects will further accelerate ongoing development activities.
He also said that once overhead water tanks are constructed in Ward No. 6 and the Ashikpur Bypass area under Tangail municipality, residents will benefit from improved access to safe drinking water, which will contribute significantly to public health.
Among others present at the programme were Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) and Administrator of Tangail Municipality Sanjay Kumar Mohanta, former member secretary of Tangail District BNP Mahmudul Haque Sanu, local public representatives, municipal officials, political leaders, and dignitaries.
Earlier in the day, the state minister also laid the foundation stone for another overhead water tank at Ashikpur Bypass area under Tangail municipality aimed at improving safe water supply in the locality.
