Minister for Disaster Management and Relief, Asadul Habib Dulu, has said securing government jobs for a mere Tk112 is a testament to the government’s transparency.
Dulu said the Department of Disaster Management serves as an example of the current government’s efforts to establish a corruption-free administration through creation of transparency and accountability.
He added that for 188 employees recently recruited by the department, the total cost incurred by each individual from application stage to joining was only Tk112.
He made these observations while speaking as the chief guest at an orientation programme for the 188 newly joined employees, held on Thursday at Disaster Management Building in Mohakhali, Dhaka.
Addressing the recruits, Dulu said Bangladesh is geographically situated in a region frequently hit by various types of natural disasters.
He also said that disaster management workers provide a beacon of hope during such calamities, adding that a skilled workforce will be developed in coming days to bring momentum to integrated disaster management.
Engineer M Iqbal Hossain, state minister for Disaster Management and Relief, attended the event as a special guest and urged the new appointees to perform their duties with honesty, devotion, and sincerity.
The programme also featured a speech by the Secretary of the Ministry of Disaster Management and Relief, Md Saidur Rahman Khan. The session was presided over by the Director General of the Department of Disaster Management, Rezwanur Rahman.
