The Ministry of Expatriates’ Welfare and Overseas Employment has constituted a ‘Grievance Settlement and Redressal Cell’ aimed at the swift resolution of various problems and complaints faced by Bangladeshi residing abroad.

The announcement was made through an office order issued by the Administration Branch of the Ministry.

According to order, the five-member cell is headed by the additional secretary or joint secretary of the Monitoring and Enforcement Division as its convener.

The other members of the cell include joint secretary (Welfare Sub-division), deputy secretary (Law Branch), deputy secretary (Services and Protocol Branch), and senior assistant secretary (Enforcement-2 Branch).

The senior assistant secretary (Enforcement-2 Branch) will also serve as the member secretary of the newly formed unit.

The office order further specifies that the cell will take necessary measures for the prompt disposal of grievances received via the email addresses [email protected] and [email protected]. The reports regarding the applications received and the actions taken on them must be presented to minister and the secretary on a daily or weekly basis.

The order also grants the cell the authority to co-opt additional members if necessary. Signed by Deputy Secretary Anisur Rahman, the office order has come into effect immediately.
